Agreement and operator
These Terms of Service govern access to First Page, including firstpageapp.com, its screenplay editor, cloud document library, export tools, and related desktop applications. In these terms, "First Page," "we," and "us" refer to the operator of the First Page service.
By creating an account, purchasing a plan, or using the service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use First Page for an organization, you represent that you can bind that organization.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. If local law requires a higher age for online services, that higher age applies. A parent or guardian must approve use by a minor.
Provide accurate account information, keep credentials confidential, and notify support@firstpageapp.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account until you notify us.
The service
First Page provides screenplay formatting, editing, pagination, planning, cloud synchronization, local recovery, document organization, and import and export tools. Features may differ by client, browser capability, plan, or release stage. The web service requires an authenticated account and internet access for cloud continuity.
Your screenplays and content
You retain ownership of your screenplays, notes, title pages, beat boards, and other material you create or upload. These terms do not transfer copyright in your work to First Page.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, transmit, process, and display your content only as needed to provide, secure, synchronize, recover, export, and support the service. This license ends when the content is deleted from active systems, subject to reasonable backup retention and legal obligations.
You must have the right to upload the material you place in First Page. We do not claim ownership of imported FDX, Fountain, PDF, or FPG files.
Sync, recovery, and backups
First Page keeps cloud copies and may keep account-scoped recovery data in your browser or desktop client. Sync uses revision checks designed to prevent stale edits from silently replacing newer cloud content.
No storage system is infallible. Local recovery is not a substitute for your own backups. Regularly export important work to FPG, FDX, Fountain, or PDF and store copies under your control. We may impose reasonable storage, version, or retention limits with advance notice where practical.
Acceptable use
You may not use First Page to:
- break the law or infringe another person's rights;
- upload malware or attempt to bypass authentication or plan limits;
- probe, overload, scrape, resell, or disrupt the service;
- access another user's account or content without authorization; or
- use automated access at a volume that harms other users.
Fictional depictions of unlawful or sensitive conduct are not prohibited merely because they appear in a screenplay. The restriction concerns unlawful use of the service itself.
Plans, billing, and Lifetime access
Free plan limits are shown on the Pricing page. Pro subscriptions renew monthly or yearly until canceled through the billing portal. Prices exclude applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Stripe processes payments and may require additional billing information.
"Lifetime access" means access to the First Page Pro tier for the life of the First Page product and your account, not your natural lifetime. It is personal, non-transferable, and does not include separately priced team seats, third-party services, or products that are materially distinct from First Page. If First Page permanently ceases operating, Lifetime access ends with the service. The early supporter offer is limited to 500 completed purchases and may be withdrawn from sale earlier.
Downgrading does not delete existing screenplays or block export. If your workspace exceeds a lower plan's active limits, creation may pause until usage is reduced or the plan is upgraded. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
Third-party services
First Page relies on service providers including Cloudflare for hosting and email delivery, Neon for managed database infrastructure, and Stripe for billing. Their services may have separate terms. Import and export compatibility with third-party screenplay applications is provided on a best-effort basis and does not imply sponsorship or endorsement.
Availability and changes
We work to keep First Page available and preserve document compatibility, but do not promise uninterrupted operation. We may change, add, deprecate, or discontinue features for security, legal, technical, or product reasons. Material reductions to paid service will receive reasonable notice when practical.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using First Page at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these terms, creates security risk, fails payment, or exposes us or others to legal harm. When practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to cure.
Before closing your account, export your work. After termination or an account-deletion request, access may end immediately and content may be deleted according to our retention schedule, except where preservation is legally required.
First Page intellectual property and feedback
First Page's software, interface, branding, and documentation are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms grant only a limited, revocable right to use the service. If you provide feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or compensation, but we will not treat your screenplay content as product feedback without your express permission.
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, First Page is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not guarantee that screenplay formatting or exports will satisfy every studio, guild, school, contest, or submission requirement.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, First Page will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost opportunities, or loss of data. Our aggregate liability for claims arising from the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid First Page during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend and indemnify First Page from third-party claims arising from content you upload, your unlawful use of the service, or your material breach of these terms. This obligation does not apply to claims caused by our own conduct.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Cook County, Illinois will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court with jurisdiction and consumer-law rights remain available where they cannot be waived.
General terms and contact
These terms, the Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy form the agreement concerning First Page. If one provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of the service.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted with a new effective date and, where appropriate, communicated through the service or account email. Questions may be sent to support@firstpageapp.com.
