First Page vs Studiovity

Write, hear and plan your screenplay together, on the Mac and the web.

Checked October 2026. Sources at the end of the page.

The short answer.

Studiovity is a low-cost subscription that puts screenwriting beside production planning, on the web, iOS and Android. Its Screenwriting plan is $3 a month, and its Productions plan, $30 a month, adds storyboards, breakdowns, schedules, call sheets and budgets. First Page is a native Mac app with a web companion, built around owning your license, keeping scripts private and hearing your draft read back. First Page One is $79 once.

On a Mac, Studiovity runs as its iPad app, on Apple silicon. If you want the lowest monthly price, an app on your phone, or production planning beside the script, choose Studiovity. If you write on a Mac and want scripts encrypted end to end, read back with a voice for every character, choose First Page.

Bring your scripts over.

Opened on your Mac, so nothing is uploaded.

  1. Export from Studiovity

Studiovity exports Final Draft files, so save a copy as .fdx. A PDF works too.

  2. Open it in First Page

Choose Open in the File menu and pick the file. Reader opens it free, with no account, so you can check how it came across before you buy.

  3. Leave the original where it is

Your Studiovity project stays as it was, so your breakdowns and schedules are still there.
